The piece

11.6 carats of round red sapphire across a 2.5-inch bezel, in 14K gold at 23.30 grams. This is the gold build of the same frame we make in silver with blue stones. Red against yellow gold is the warmer of the two pairings by a wide margin — the metal and the stone reinforce each other rather than contrast, so the piece reads as one warm mass at distance and separates into stones up close. 23.30 grams over two and a half inches is solid without being a slab.
