The piece

0.45 carats of round natural diamond with colored sapphire worked through it, prong-set at 1.5mm on 14K gold, 6.40 grams. The color sits as accent rather than as the subject, which is the harder ratio to judge. Too much and the piece becomes a color necklace with diamonds in it; too little and the color reads as a flaw in the run.
