The piece

A cat cut as a pendant, one inch tall, carrying 0.65 carats of round natural diamond in prong settings on 14K gold. Animal shapes at this scale live or die on the outline — get the ear and tail proportions wrong and it reads as a generic shape with stones on it. 14.00 grams for a one-inch pendant is heavy, which is what lets the piece hold a clean silhouette instead of thinning out at the edges.
