The piece

1.26 carats of blue sapphire held inside 0.52 carats of natural diamond, 10mm across the head, prong-set in 14K gold at 3.70 grams. Water is the pale end of the blue range — light enough that you see through the stone rather than at it, which is why it takes a diamond surround better than a dark blue would.
